Our Story
founded in 1980 in Fullerton, California in a one-room studio, The Dance Spot is still owned and operated by the same family since it opened 40 years ago.
Known for excellence in dance education provided in a welcoming community, The Dance Spot provides recreation and competition classes for all ages.
Deidre Madrigal and her parents opened The Dance Spot in Fullerton, California in 1980. It was a one-room dance studio back then catering to under 50 students who mostly came from the neighborhood. The studio quickly expanded, with students traveling up to one-hour to take classes from “Miss Dee Dee” and her knowledgeable staff. Shortly after opening, The Dance Spot moved locations to accommodate the customer base.
The Dance Spot has moved three separate times but has always remained in Fullerton, each move accommodating more students (adults and children alike). The Dance Spot has trained dancers who are featured on film and television, professional troupes and organizations, and some students who became dance instructors later in life (a few of whom currently teach at the studio).
Deidre and her staff are committed to providing high quality dance education which focuses on community and life long learning as much as it emphasizes technique and skill. After 40 years, The Dance Spot continues its legacy of excellence with its new generation of dancers.
